Comprehensive Exam

The best way to preserve the health of your teeth and gums is to maintain a sensible oral hygiene regimen. In addition to daily brushing and flossing, this includes regular dental examinations and professional cleanings. Our professionals take great satisfaction in helping you maintain ideal oral fitness and realize the perfect smile for you without emotional stress, schedule conflict or financial anxiety.
When you visit us for any dental service, you’ll receive the highest level of dental care from one of the state’s most respected dental practices. Our comprehensive oral exam includes:
- Intraoral Pictures – We take clear pictures of all of your teeth so that instead of just telling about the areas of concern, we can actually show it to you on the large television screen located in each operatory.
- Diagnostic Low-Radiation X-Rays – We can detect decay, tumors, cysts, and bone loss with x-rays. They can also help determine your tooth and root positions.
- Tooth Decay Screening – Using a pain-free early detection laser in combination with a visual exam we check all of your tooth surfaces for decay and make necessary recommendations.
- Examination of Your Existing Restorations – We evaluate the current condition of any existing work that you have had done and verify that it has no problems.
- Gum Disease (Periodontal) Evaluation – Our knowledgeable gum care specialists check your gums and bone around your teeth for any signs of inflammation or bone loss, also known as periodontal disease.
- Oral Cancer Screening – This screening looks for any signs of oral cancer, including a thorough exam of the face, neck, lips, tongue, throat, tissues, and gums. White or red spots, or sore that don’t go away are possible signs of oral cancer.
- Temperomandibular Joint (TMJ) Exam – We will physically and visually check your muscles and joints to verify that there are no problems with either.
- Occlusion (Bite) Analysis – An improper bite can impact the overall structure of your face, the forces on your teeth, and even contribute to TMJ. We evaluate your bite for occlusion problems that could cause severe damage in the future.
After your comprehensive initial exam, we will work with you to develop a treatment plan that optimizes your oral health. It’s this personal touch that has made Keystone Dentistry the practice of choice for patients throughout the Indianapolis North area. Contact us to schedule your comprehensive exam today!
