Laser Assisted Dentistry

At Keystone Dentistry, we are continually trying to make the dental world a less scary and more comfortable place for our patients and their families. We do this in many ways, but keeping up on the latest that the dental field has to offer is a large part of what helps us accomplish this.

We are proud to inform you that we offer laser-assisted procedures with clear advantages over the same procedures without the use of dental lasers:

  • Fear of Needles – Our dental laser can be used to prepare simple fillings without the need for anesthesia. Imagine not having to have a shot before your tooth is fixed! We know patients don’t like injections, even when they don’t hurt!
  • Dislike of Numbness – We know that our patients prefer not to become numb or leave the dental practice after a procedure numb. Many patients feel anxious about talking or smiling when they can’t feel their mouth – not to mention eating! Our high performance dental laser eliminates this negative.
  • Dislike of Drill Noise and Vibration – Removing decay from a tooth typically involves significant objectionable noise and vibration for the patient and most dislike it. Our patients have told us that the sound of a laser is not as unpleasant and no vibration is transmitted to the patient as the tip of the laser never even needs to contact the tooth!
  • Preservation of Healthy Tooth Structure – In general, preparations performed with lasers preserve more of the healthy tooth structure. This can be best observed when we use the laser for root canal therapy. Before the advent of the laser, dentists had to use large files to husk out your tooth in order to finish a root canal. Since we have started using the laser we have been able to save more of the healthy tooth structure, creating an endodontically treated tooth that is less of a shell, and therefore stronger and more resistant to breaking.
  • Less Post Operative Discomfort – Many laser procedures result in less post operative discomfort for our patients.
  • Less Invasive Procedures – Many of our surgery procedures have greatly benefitted from the use of lasers. In traditionally invasive procedures, such as surgical gum and bone therapy where a scalpel was used to cut the gums and uncover a significant portion of the bone, now we simply run the laser tip next to each tooth at the gum line. The result is less post-operative pain with BETTER healing!

Equipped with laser technology, we are armed with more and better treatment options than without a laser, resulting in delivery of the very best, state-of-the-art care possible for you – the patient.
